Planocolor Microcement system

The micro cement mortar Planocolor Premium 2K is a decorative coating of high strength that can be applied to a variety of surfaces in combination with the appropriate primer, for areas of high requirements and aesthetics. The easy application on horizontal and vertical surfaces, combined with high mechanical strength and adhesion, make it an ideal microcement coating for new constructions and renovations.

Application:

  • Cement-based substrates should be properly prepared mechanically, e.g. by sanding to achieve a uniform surface of open porosity without protrusions.
  • Cement based substrates have to be compact, level, clean, free of grease, oil, laitance and  any substances which may compromise the adhesion of Planocolor Premium 2K. Then we repair where you require with the mortars of the Sika Monotop or Betonfix series on concrete floors and we can also use Levelling Compound Plano 120 S/F for leveling the surface to a maximum getting hard of 10 mm.
  • Where there is an absorbent surface (concrete, cementitious coatings, gypsum boards, etc.), prime with a water-based Planoprimer diluted 1:1 with water 10 minutes before applying the microcement. On non-absorbent substrates (ceramics, metals, etc.) prim with Plano Contact quartz primer at least 12 hours before the application of the microcement.
  • Preparation of Planocolor Premium 2K microcement: In the ready package of 17 kg, stir the 15 kg of powder with the 2 kg of the emulsion (latex) inside. Then add 2-2.5 liters of clean water depending on the workability we want to give to the mixture. To achieve the desired shade, add 500 ml of dye in liquid form that we have chosen.
  • After the Planocolor Microcement is ready, apply the first layer with a metal spatula. In floors and areas with higher strength requirements, put in the first fresh layer of Masternet 75 gr glass mesh.
  • On floors usually apply 3 coats and on walls 2 coats with a waiting time between coats of about 6 hours. It is recommended to prim the previous one with Planoprimer diluted with water 1:1 before each subsequent layer.
  • Since our final surface hardens and for a particularly minimalist final finish, a light sanding of the last layer is recommended in order to eliminate any unevenness.
  • The grain size of the sandpaper should be selected according to the requirements. Clean the surface from dust and varnish with Dry Bright polyurethane hybrid varnish.
  • After 1 hour apply the last coating of aliphatic polyurethane 2-component Planofinish PU KW MAT (A+B) in 2 coats with a time interval of 30-45 minutes.

Remarks:

  • For applications in swimming pools and fountains use a Planocolor Premium SP microcement.
  • Do not apply water or other enhancers to the mixture when it starts to thicken. In such a case it is rejected.
  • Consumption of Planocolor Premium 2K material in walls can range from 2-2.5 kg/m² for a thickness of 2 mm and in flooring 3-3.5 kg/m² for a thickness of 3 mm.
  • The Planocolor Microcement system like other mortars requires the existence of expansion joints. For this reason, make sure to insert expansion joints where required.
